Coffee Spots In Melbourne

Dukes Coffee Roasters

Dukes Coffee Roasters

Dukes Coffee Roasters

Just walking into there you get hit with such a beautiful strong coffee aroma. They roast their own beans which they sell by the bag if you want to take some home. Enjoy a coffee and a light snack in house or take it to go. Mainly espresso coffee but they also serve filter and cold brew coffee. Their coffee is bold, rich and nutty.

247 Flinders Ln, Melbourne VIC 3000

Hidden behind a blue door in an abandoned laneway, Little Rogue do wonderful coffee, home made pastries in a charming little cafe filled with little pop culture nods (count how many R2D2s there are). All self sustainable and locally sourced.

Espresso Coffee Styles

Espresso/Short Black

Espresso/Short Black

Espresso/Short Black

30ml shot of coffee, base for all other espresso coffee. Might also hear Ristretto which is the first 1/2 of an espresso, only 15mls or double espresso (literally just 2 espressos, double the coffee, 60mls)

Long Black

Espresso/Short Black

Espresso/Short Black

60ml of espresso into ½ cup of hot water (closest thing you’ll get to an Americano here unless you go to a place that specialises in filter coffee)

Short/Long Macchiato

Espresso/Short Black

Short/Long Macchiato

Espresso/Long Black with a small dollop of frothed milk on it.  Translated as "To stain" (with milk), from the Italian "macchiare"

Flat White

Flat White

Short/Long Macchiato

Espresso coffee with steamed milk with very little froth, served in a cup. An Australian invention (although New Zealand claims it too, like the pavlova)

Latte

Flat White

Cappuccino

Espresso coffee with steamed milk with about an inch of froth, served in a glass.

If you're looking for the taste of a strong coffee but only one shot, try a piccolo latte.

Cappuccino

Flat White

Cappuccino

Espresso coffee with steamed milk with about ⅓ cup of froth topped with chocolate, served in a cup

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate milk, most often served with a marshmallow on the side

Mocha

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate

A cappuccino or latte (depending on the cafe) but with chocolate milk, my go too comfort drink if I want to feel warm but also caffeinated.

Chai Latte

Hot Chocolate

Iced Coffee/Chocolate

Steamed milk with chai spice powder normally topped with ground cinnamon and served in a glass. Ask for a Dirty Chai Latte if you want it with a shot of coffee.

Iced Coffee/Chocolate

Iced Coffee/Chocolate

Iced Coffee/Chocolate

Ice, ice cream, milk with either a coffee shot or chocolate sauce, sometimes topped with whipped cream.

Iced Latte

Iced Coffee/Chocolate

General Coffee Info

Just ice, milk and coffee shot, never with ice cream or whipped cream

General Coffee Info

  • Most cafes will offer full cream milk, skinny milk and soy milk. Others may offer other milks such as lactose free, oat, almond, or rice milk.
  • There are places in Melbourne that specialise in filter coffee, cold brew and other methods but espresso is the most common and is my favourite.
  • Iced Latte, Iced Coffee and Cold Brew are all very different things.
